Hmmm...yes, if I get a chance...

As a kid, myself. This was an opportunity to poke about the aircraft as they stopped on a US tour. I wished I had the $400 and the time Monday morning at 10am, to go for a ride. This was a salvaged cargo plane in South America [I believe] that was gutted. It's been lovingly restored by those who know and flies about the US. If you're interested in checking it out, it's worth the time - early in the am before the crowds is a good time. This one, apparently, never saw combat.

All these technical shots very interesting, for those of us who will probably never witness it firsthand. I remember reading the book by this title, Larry -- both as a kid, when it was just over my head(no pun intended) and, again the same copy from the library several years ago (yellowed and worn) -- the account of the author's new, green navigator nervously getting them lost in a storm of blue lightening on a trip over the Atlantic to West Africa from Brazil, delivering a brand new squadron of bombers to Asia. Thus the title of the book I think -- when they came out of the storm, not knowing where they were and short on fuel, the author looked down to see they were right over the air strip in Africa where they were suppose to land.

About Larry Darnell

Photo of me oconda. Places without people have always appealed to me. Solitude is rejuvenating. As modern life increases in its intensity, my need for time apart from it increases proportionately. I have spent my working life in various creative endeavors: motion pictures, television, music and graphic arts. Over the past decade, I have been developing several photographic-based painting and printing styles mostly with California and Western landscapes as subject. My intent and desire is to discover a place, unique in its quietude; contemplative, and record it's essence to share with the viewer. To that end, if I can revisit and relive the spirit of place as I work the image, I sense a much greater chance of achieving this goal...
